Respected Nollywood actor cum director Kunle Afolayan is set to make history with his next movie titled October 1. The movie written by Tunde Babalola is reported to have a grossed a whooping $2million in production and is set to redefine the Nigerian movie industry.
The heroic movie, set in the wake of Nigeria’s 1960 independence is a psychological thriller detailing the activities of a northern police detective, Dan Waziri who was posted to the western region to unravel the mystery behind a series of female murders in the community. He soon discovers that the prime suspect is Aderopo, the prince of the community. Waziri, however does not have plenty of time as he is expected to bring the Prince to book before the Nigerian flag is raised on October 1.
The Movie produced under Afolayan’s ‘Golden Effect’ outfit features an array of veterans in the industry. This include Sadiq Daba, Kehinde Bankole, David Bailie, Kayode Olaiya, Nick Rhys, Fabian Lojede, Demola Adedoyin and Afolayan himself.
Afolayan, an award winning actor/producer/director is best known for productions like Araromire(Figurine), Phone Swap and Irapada.
No release date has been announced for the film but it is expected to commensurate Nigeria’s 2013 Independence celebration.
